James Watts
Working primarily with sound, performance and sculpture, James Watts is interested in the physical energy and exhaustion invested in making sound, particularly in relation to experimental extrem music genres; and contexts around that. Recent works have involved the re-situation and dismantling of gig environments within gallery spaces and the construction or repurposing of instrument bodies that collapse or produce sound on their own terms. He has also been looking into lyrics and how they exist in a performative sense, as well as outside of their original contexts.
